Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how The Grid ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your email address, username, display name, and password (stored as a one-way hash). You may optionally add a profile photo, bio, and location preferences.

Content you post. Events you create, cars you add to your garage, photos you upload, chat messages, RSVPs, and any other content you submit to the Service.

Location data. With your permission, we use your device's location to show nearby events. Location is used at the time of the request and is not continuously tracked. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Payment data. When you purchase an event boost, our payment processor (Stripe, Inc.) collects your card details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We retain the payment intent ID, amount, currency, status, and timestamp to reconcile purchases and issue refunds.

Device and usage data. We log IP address, device model, OS version, app version, and basic request metadata (endpoint, timestamp, response status) for security, debugging, and rate limiting.

Push notification tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store your Expo / APNs / FCM token to deliver notifications for events you RSVP to, messages, and account activity.

2. How we use information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content to train third-party AI models.

3. How we share information

With other users. Your public profile (display name, username, photo, bio, cars, public events) is visible to other Grid users. RSVPs to an event are visible to the event's organizer and co-organizers. Chat messages are visible only to members of the channel.

With service providers. We share limited data with third parties that help us run the Service:

For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Grid, our users, or the public.

4. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, cars, and direct messages within 30 days. Events you organized are archived (your name is anonymized) so attendees retain records of meets they attended. Payment records are retained for 7 years to comply with financial regulations.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security measures: TLS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, least-privilege database access, and signature-verified payment webhooks. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute protection against all threats.

6. Children's privacy

The Service is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@gridmeets.com and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. You can manage most of this yourself in the app (Profile → Settings), or email support@gridmeets.com for assistance.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
